Accountant

Boutique real estate investment firm focused on acquiring, renovating, operating and growing a diversified portfolio of real estate assets, including multifamily apartments, hotels, warehouses, and RV parks. This is an entrepreneurial environment where the right person will have significant exposure to the business and work closely with ownership. This is not a narrow accounting role — you will be involved in the financial and operational aspects of the investments from acquisition through ongoing ownership.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a smart, hardworking, and entrepreneurial Accountant with approximately 3-7 years of experience who wants to take ownership, learn the business, and grow with the firm. The ideal candidate is someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty, and learn the business from the ground up. You will initially work closely with senior leadership and third-party providers, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the portfolio grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the accounting and financial reporting for a growing portfolio of 5-10 real estate assets.
• Maintain accurate books and records at the property/asset level and partnership level.
• Manage budget-to-actual reporting, identify variances, and help ownership understand financial performance.
• Oversee accounts payable and ensure property-level bills and obligations are paid accurately and timely, including items not handled by third-party property managers.
• Manage insurance requirements, renewals, certificates, and related documentation.
• Assist with property acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and loan closings.
• Maintain compliance with lender requirements, loan covenants, and real estate financing documentation.
• Work with outside tax advisors on partnership tax filings, K-1s, and tax planning.
• Help maintain and manage the firm's various legal entities and partnership structures.
• Work with attorneys, lenders, insurance providers, property managers, accountants, and other outside professionals.
• Support tenant-related financial and operational matters when necessary.
• Assist with property-level and partnership-level cash management.
• Help establish and improve accounting processes as the portfolio grows.
• Take on additional responsibilities across finance and operations as you develop.

What We're Looking For

• 3-7 years of accounting experience , ideally including real estate, investment management, public accounting, or a related environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals.
• Comfortable working with multiple entities, properties, and financial statements.
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
• Smart, curious, and willing to learn.
• Entrepreneurial mindset — someone who wants to understand the business behind the numbers , not just process transactions.
• Willingness to take ownership and do whatever is necessary to get the job done.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions.
• Real estate accounting experience is a plus, but attitude, intelligence, and work ethic are equally important .
