About the Role

A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join its accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, this person will support a broad range of accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

General Accounting

• Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring, accrual, and adjusting entries.
• Perform monthly balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Research and resolve discrepancies and unusual account activity.
• Assist with monthly and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and accounting documentation.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Analyze financial data and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with accounting projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Support audit and other external reporting requests as needed.

Accounts Receivable

• Record and reconcile daily transactions and receipts.
• Monitor accounts receivable activity and outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate AR records and supporting documentation.
• Research and resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies.
• Assist with customer account reconciliations.
• Prepare AR reports and assist with month-end AR activities.
• Ensure transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled to the general ledger.
• Assist with compliance-related accounting activities as needed.

Month-End Close & Reporting

• Assist with the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
• Review financial and operational reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Reconcile information across multiple systems and identify discrepancies.
• Assist with sales, inventory, or other operational reporting as applicable.
• Work closely with the Controller and accounting team to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Use Excel to analyze financial information and develop reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• ~5 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with account reconciliations, accounts receivable, and month-end close.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Proactive approach with the ability to identify issues and determine appropriate next steps.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
