Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain daily entries in Tally Prime: sales, purchases, receipts, payments, journals, and expenses
• Keep customer-wise and vendor-wise ledgers and perform regular bank reconciliations
• Prepare and file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, reconcile purchases with GSTR-2B, and verify eligible ITC
• Calculate and deduct TDS, pay it on time, file TDS returns, and issue TDS certificates
• Prepare data for ITR filing and coordinate with the CA on audits, notices, and assessments
• Track shipment-wise income, expenses, and profit margins (ocean freight, air freight, transport, CFS, customs, and handling)
• Verify vendor bills against agreed rates, and prepare customer invoices per confirmed quotations
• Follow up on overdue payments, monitor credit periods, and allocate receipts and advances correctly
• Verify invoices from shipping lines, airlines, transporters, CFS operators, customs brokers, and overseas agents
• Prepare payment schedules, get management approval before release, and prevent duplicate or incorrect payments
• Manage foreign currency invoices, overseas agent accounts, and exchange gains and losses
• Prepare monthly P&L statements, Balance Sheets, and receivable, payable, and fund requirement reports
• Close monthly books on time and maintain organized supporting documents

Requirements

• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, or import-export
• Strong practical knowledge of Tally Prime
• Hands-on experience with GST returns, TDS, and income tax compliance
• Good Excel skills (formulas, filters, PivotTables)
• Understanding of accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, and shipment-wise costing
• Knowledge of foreign currency transactions and overseas vendor reconciliation
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of financial information
