We are seeking an Accountant II to join a growing accounting team in Houston. This is a great opportunity for an early-career accountant who has a solid foundation in general accounting and wants to continue building experience across general ledger, fixed assets, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting .

This position will work closely with the Accounting Manager and other members of the finance team while supporting daily accounting activities, reporting, and special projects.

What You'll Do

• Maintain fixed asset accounting , including additions, disposals, depreciation, transfers, and asset updates.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Complete bank, credit card, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations.
• Maintain prepaid expenses and recurring monthly entries.
• Post and reconcile daily cash activity.
• Review accounting activity for accuracy and research discrepancies.
• Assist with AP and AR functions and review batches prior to posting.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Help maintain compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and established accounting procedures .
• Partner with other departments to research and resolve accounting issues.
• Assist with special projects, reporting requests, and process improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting .
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and PivotTables.
• Experience working with accounting or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains .
• Fixed asset accounting experience.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
