Accounting Assistant

What you'll be doing

• Recording and processing financial transactions in the accounting system with accuracy and attention to detail
• Assisting with the preparation and reconciliation of bank statements and general ledger accounts
• Maintaining and organising financial documentation and records in compliance with company policies
• Supporting the preparation of financial reports and statements under the guidance of senior accounting staff
• Processing invoices, purchase orders and expense claims in a timely manner
• Assisting with monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations
• Performing data entry tasks and maintaining accurate accounting records
• Supporting the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Assisting with audit preparations and providing necessary documentation as required
• Performing general administrative duties to support the accounting department

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or Accounting Management or Finance Management or related field
• Qualification in accounting, finance or a related field (such as an accounting diploma or associate degree)
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with spreadsheets and financial data
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct discrepancies
• Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• A solid understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Reliability and a professional approach to confidential financial information
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes is preferred
• Previous experience working in an accounting or finance role is advantageous
