Accounting Assistant

Are you a recent accounting or commerce graduate looking for your first step into the finance profession? We're looking for a motivated and ambitious General Accounting Assistant to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has a strong work ethic, and is keen to understand how a business operates, not just process transactions. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of finance activities and work closely with experienced professionals who will support your development.

What you'll be doing

No two days will look exactly the same. Your responsibilities will include:

• Accounts payable processing and supplier management
• Accounts receivable administration and customer account support
• Bank, creditor, debtor and general ledger reconciliations
• Assisting with month-end finance activities
• Data entry and maintaining accurate financial records
• Preparing reports and financial information
• Supporting continuous improvement of finance processes
• Providing administrative support to the wider finance team
• Assisting with a variety of other accounting and finance tasks as needed

What we're looking for

We're interested in attitude and potential as much as experience. You will ideally have:

• A recently completed degree or tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• A willingness to learn and take ownership of your work
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills
• A proactive approach to problem-solving
• The ability to think beyond simply processing transactions and understand the wider business impact of your work
• A reliable, hardworking attitude and a desire to build a successful career in finance
