Accounting Intern

About the Program

• Location: St. Petersburg, FL
• Hours: 20–40 hours per week with flexible scheduling to accommodate class commitments
• Weekly gatherings with interns, managers, and executives

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the accounting team in day-to-day operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Help prepare financial statements, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Assist in maintaining accurate and organized financial records in compliance with company policies
• Participate in internal audits, including testing internal controls, gathering supporting documentation, and summarizing findings
• Assist in preparing schedules and documentation requested by external auditors
• Help ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and vendor accounts
• Assist with expense tracking, invoice processing, and payment runs
• Help identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve accuracy
• Prepare reports and summaries for managers and executive leadership
• Assist with various accounting and cross-functional projects as needed

Required Skills & Characteristics

• Detail-oriented, organized, and highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities

• Ability to quickly learn new concepts and adapt in a fast-paced environment

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
