Accounting Manager

About the Role

Polar H.K. Limited (a member of the StarMaps Group) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the company's accounting and financial reporting functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury activities, budgeting, and statutory compliance while ensuring sound internal controls and corporate governance standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), general ledger maintenance, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports related to leasing and investment activities.
• Maintain accurate and complete accounting records for operating income, operating expenses, tenant-related charges, and property-related costs.
• Record, monitor, and reconcile investment transactions, including treasury products and fixed-income instruments.
• Monitor cash flow positions, funding requirements, and payment schedules to ensure effective liquidity management.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, bankers, and other professional advisers on accounting, audit, tax, and financing matters.
• Support budget preparation, forecast reviews, expense control initiatives, and ad hoc financial analyses for management and shareholders.
• Ensure compliance with Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS), tax regulations, statutory requirements, internal control policies, and corporate governance standards.
• Coordinate annual budgeting exercises, year-end audits, and preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting efficiency.
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members to ensure high-quality performance and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification such as HKICPA, ACCA, CPA Australia, or equivalent.
• Minimum 6-8 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
• Solid experience in full-set accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
• Strong knowledge of HKFRS, Hong Kong tax regulations, Companies Ordinance, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide meaningful financial insights and recommendations.
• Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with auditors, bankers, consultants, management, and shareholders.
• Self-motivated, detail-minded, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua.
• Occasional travel may be required.
