Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of corporate accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable management, and financial statement preparation.
• Oversee compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SEC reporting standards, SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Prepare accurate financial reports, interpret financial data, and communicate insights to senior management for informed decision-making.
• Ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes while maintaining strict adherence to accounting standards and internal controls.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as complex journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis.
• Manage internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring audit readiness.
• Implement and maintain robust accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or other financial software platforms; optimize workflows for efficiency.
• Conduct cash flow analysis, budget forecasting, and variance analysis to support organizational financial planning.
• Handle confidential information with integrity while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws including securities law and non-profit accounting standards when relevant.
• Support regulatory reporting requirements related to governmental accounting or LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
• Extensive experience in accounting and finance roles with a strong background in corporate accounting practices.
• Proven expertise in GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and technical accounting concepts.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel skills (spreadsheets).
• Strong understanding of international accounting standards and governmental accounting principles if applicable.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members effectively while fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Knowledge of securities law, Wills & Trusts & Estate law is a plus but not mandatory.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
• Experience managing audits, regulatory reporting, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Pay: $88,829.55 - $106,977.52 per year
