Position Summary: The Accounting Manager oversees and supports the district’s accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable, payroll accounting, fixed asset accounting, bond accounting, and financial reporting.

Under the guidance of the Controller, this role ensures accurate general ledger coding and reporting in line with the State of Oklahoma Cost Accounting System (OCAS) requirements. The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting compliance with Board policies, district business practices, state and federal regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Key Functions

• Administers accounting procedures across the District and ensures compliance with Board policy and state and federal reporting requirements
• Supervises accounting operations and direct reports, including general ledger activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, expenditures, encumbrances, and requisitions
• Manages month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and reclassification entries, and maintains financial internal controls
• Leads year-end audit preparation, OCAS reporting, and tax filings (1099s and 1042s)
• Coordinates financial reporting systems, works with ERP vendors to resolve issues, and validates Board of Education reporting for encumbrances and expenditures
• Provides payroll accounting backup and support
• Oversees bond fund tracking, encumbering, expensing, and reporting

Education Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory accounting experience, or equivalent work

experience in a financial, analytical, or accounting field

Licenses And Certifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
