Accounting Manager

This is an opportunity to step into a newly created Accounting Manager role with a privately held, $1B distribution company that's growing organically, expanding through acquisitions, and capitalizing on significant market disruption. Reporting directly to an approachable, process-driven Controller, you'll lead a team of 3-5 accountants while owning the general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and helping build the next generation of the accounting function. The company is intentionally creating leadership bench strength, giving this role strong long-term growth and succession potential. They're looking for a hands-on leader with public and/or industry experience who enjoys improving processes, developing people, and making a visible impact in a collaborative hybrid environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the monthly and annual close processes, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
• Manage the preparation and review of balance sheets and account reconciliations and resolve pending ledger discrepancies promptly
• Enforce robust internal controls and adherence to accounting policies
• Mentor accounting personnel through ongoing technical training and coaching
• Set clear performance metrics and conduct routine staff evaluation reviews
• Coordinate external audit processes and prepare required supporting financial schedules
• Collaborate with FP&A and operational teams to align reporting insights
• Streamline core accounting workflows and implement automated system solutions
• Maintain standardized operating procedures and official department policy documentation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including full GL oversight
• Prior people leadership experience

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary Range: $110,000–$130,000
• This role is also eligible for various benefits, including: Medical Insurance

Actual base salary will be determined based on an individual's experience, skills, education, certifications, credentials, special skills, accomplishments, and other factors relevant to the position.

This role is based in the Twin Cities. Applicants must currently reside in Minnesota or are planning to relocate to Minnesota in the near future.
