Accounting Manager

Leading family-owned moving company is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, and payroll. This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, compliance standards, and financial management practices and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.

• Starting pay: $55,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience
• Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with one hour for lunch

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage corporate accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable and receivable management, invoice aging, collections, and bank reconciliations.
• Oversee financial statement preparation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Learn month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation, financial reporting and interpretation of financial data.
• Ensure accuracy in regulatory reporting, including tax filings, and maintain adherence to accounting standards.
• Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning initiatives to support organizational growth.
• Responsible for supervising, training, and mentoring of accounting staff and assisting staff as needed.
• Oversee twice monthly payment of contract drivers’ commission statements, including preparing liability and physical damage deductions based upon linehaul, creating chargebacks, auditing statements for accuracy, and maintaining 1099 information and reserve information on drivers.
• Prepare workers’ comp information for monthly journal entries.
• Responsible for petty cash disbursement/check request of petty cash.
• Complete ACH deposit for CVTP, LLC monthly for partners.
• Input new hires into the payroll system, Movers Suite, and the Kentucky New Hire Reporting System. Issue employee numbers, create personnel and medical files.
• Review and process payroll for all locations, print checks and run all necessary reports weekly, code timecards for correct departments, print timecards and prepare for all locations with department reports and leave reports, set up and issue direct deposits, process and pay state and local payroll taxes.
• Complete all inquiries such as welfare benefits, reference checks, VOE’s, child support calculation, garnishment requests, etc.
• Track leave hours for all employees and input accrued hours on anniversary dates.
• Notify all locations when their employees reach 90 days for managers’ reviews and benefits enrollments.
• Responsible for processing and working with employees on Insurance and benefits, coordinating open enrollment meetings and collecting sign-up sheets or waivers, setting up new enrollments, and terminating, when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Five years of experience in accounting or finance management.
• Experience mentoring and supervising accounting teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant field preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – particularly spreadsheets – and advanced financial report writing and analysis skills.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
