What they need
Accounting & Operations Manager
A Career Opportunity with a Path Toward Executive Leadership
A well-established financial institution is seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting & Operations Manager to join its leadership team.
This is more than an accounting and operations position—it is an opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in financial services and grow into executive leadership.
The ideal candidate is someone who has a strong accounting foundation, enjoys understanding how an organization operates as a whole, and has the ambition and leadership mindset to take on increasing responsibility over time.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
The current President/CEO is planning for retirement within the next several years and is interested in developing the right individual to eventually step into the President/CEO role and lead the organization.
This creates a unique opportunity for someone who isn't simply looking for their next job but wants to build a career and grow into a senior leadership position.
You will work closely with the President/CEO and gain exposure to the many facets of the organization, allowing you to learn the business from the ground up while progressively taking on additional leadership responsibilities.
The long-term vision is to develop the right person into a future President/CEO.
What You'll Be Doing
As Accounting & Operations Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health and operational effectiveness of the organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage the integrity and accuracy of accounting records and financial reporting
- Reconcile the general ledger and bank accounts
- Oversee accounting and operations functions
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, investments, financial reporting, and recordkeeping
- Prepare financial reports for leadership and the Board
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Oversee ACL administration and related recordkeeping
- Supervise, train, and develop staff
- Monitor investments, ALM activities, fixed assets, and government reporting
- Support audits, regulatory requirements, disaster recovery testing, and record retention
- Monitor suspicious activity and support BSA compliance
- Process wire transfers, OFAC checks, ATM/debit activity, and shared-branch balancing
- Support members, auditors, and supervisory committee activities
- Serve as a key operational resource and backup to the President/CEO
The Growth Opportunity
The right candidate will have the opportunity to learn far beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.
As you grow in the role, you'll gain exposure to:
Leadership Operations Finance Compliance Regulatory Requirements Strategic Planning Board Relations Member Services Financial Institution Management
This position is designed for someone who wants to grow into leadership, not remain in a narrowly defined accounting role.
We're looking for someone who has the attitude:
"I want to learn the entire business, take on more responsibility, develop as a leader, and eventually have the opportunity to run the organization."
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A solid foundation in accounting and financial management
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work independently while leading and developing others
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- A willingness to learn the broader aspects of banking and financial operations
- Leadership potential and a desire for continued professional growth
- A long-term mindset and the ambition to eventually lead an organization
Banking or credit union experience is preferred, but candidates with strong accounting experience who possess the drive, leadership ability, and desire to learn the financial services industry are encouraged to apply.
A two-year college degree, business/trade school program, or equivalent experience is preferred, along with approximately 2–5 years of accounting or related experience.
Build Your Career. Grow Into Leadership.
If you're looking for a position where you can come in, perform accounting duties, and stay in the same lane, this may not be the opportunity for you.
If you're looking for an opportunity where you can learn the business, grow your responsibilities, develop as a leader, and potentially work your way into the President/CEO role, this is a career opportunity worth exploring.
This organization is looking for someone who wants to build a future—not simply find their next position.
