Position Overview

A confidential private investment firm is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead and execute our daily accounting operations, transactional workflows, and financial close processes.

Operating as the anchor of our finance department, the Accounting Manager will directly manage routine bookkeeping, accounts payable (AP), cash management, and fund transaction processing. This role is ideal for a proactive accounting professional who thrives on executing core accounting functions while establishing organized, scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities1. Full-Cycle Operational Accounting & Close

  • Own and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for the Management Company, active investment funds, and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).
  • Maintain the general ledger (GL), prepare and post journal entries, and perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review and approve daily Accounts Payable (AP) processing, invoice coding, expense reimbursements, and vendor payment schedules.
  • Oversee credit card administration, employee expense management, and monthly corporate card reconciliations.

2. Fund Operations & Transactional Support

  • Execute daily transactional accounting for investment funds, including recording portfolio investments, capital calls, and distributions.
  • Prepare quarterly LP capital call notices, distribution statements, and partner account balances.
  • Track management fees, partner capital accounts, and fund expense allocations across multiple investment entities.
  • Monitor daily treasury activity, track cash positions, and coordinate wire transfers/drawdowns with external banking partners.

3. Financial Reporting & External Coordination

  • Prepare month-end internal financial statement packages (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement) for CFO review.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external CPA firms, audit teams, and tax advisors during annual financial audits and tax return filings (K-1s, 1065s).
  • Ensure accurate recording and tracking of vendor 1099 processing and state tax compliance.

4. Process Improvement & Team Oversight

  • Establish, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for core accounting and AP workflows.
  • Supervise, review, and support junior accounting staff or external bookkeeping consultants as team scope expands.
  • Partner with the CFO to implement tech enhancements and streamline manual workflows across accounting and payroll systems.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience:
  • 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior accountant or accounting manager capacity.
  • Direct experience in private equity, venture capital, family office, real estate investment, or financial services is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP accounting, GL maintenance, and multi-entity financial management.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Carta, Investran) and AP automation tools (e.g., Bill.com, Ramp, Brex).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, complex financial formulas).

Competencies:

  • Strong operational mindset with exceptional organization and attention to numerical detail.
  • Ability to manage high-volume transactional workflows independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity, professional discretion, and confidentiality.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
