Job Overview

Own and personally execute daily accounting, monthly closing, financial reporting, and cost analysis for our United States and Canadian business. This hands-on role supervises one employee supporting accounts receivable and works closely with department leaders and Group Finance in the Netherlands. A substantial portion of the role involves completing the work directly, including preparing the P&L, handling payments and payroll, and building Excel costing and forecasting models.

Responsibilities

· Personally complete monthly closing, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements; explain results and prepare timely reports for management and Group Finance.

· Manage accounts payable, prepare checks and electronic payments, and prepare, enter, review, or coordinate payroll with appropriate independent approvals.

· Supervise the AR employee, participate in collections and billing dispute resolution, and ensure service and project invoices capture labor, travel, expenses, and parts promptly.

· Analyze project margins, technician costs, sales expenses, inventory, and departmental spending; recommend improvements to cost recovery and profitability.

· Build reliable Excel models for costing, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow; reconcile analysis to accounting records and improve reporting workflows.

· Prepare or coordinate sales and use tax returns, payments, registrations, and exemption records; coordinate multistate payroll requirements and employee work-location tracking with HR, providers, and qualified advisers.

· Coordinate international payments and intercompany reconciliations; improve financial controls and procedures, provide backup coverage, and perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

· Required: Experience personally performing accounting work, independently closing the books, and preparing and explaining financial statements in a small or midsize business.

· Required: Advanced practical Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, SUMIFS, data validation, and financial model development.

· Required: Strong AP, AR, collections, reconciliations, and payroll knowledge; experience with budgeting, forecasting, costing, and accounting or ERP systems.

· Required: Relevant accounting or finance education or equivalent experience; strong communication, organization, confidentiality, and ability to supervise an employee while completing daily work.

· Preferred: Power BI and Power Query (not required); international and intercompany accounting; sales and use tax and multistate payroll; job costing, inventory, and service profitability; INFOR LN; CPA or CMA.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
