Accounting Operations Specialist

LND Technical Services is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day financial operations of our growing organization. This role owns core accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, supports accurate transaction and job-cost coding, and partners with Project Managers and internal teams to improve billing, collections, cash flow, and financial reporting.

Accounts Receivable and Billing

• Review contract billing terms and customer requirements before invoicing
• Compile complete billing packages, including purchase orders, timesheets, expense reports, certified payroll reports, and other required supporting documents
• Issue customer invoices accurately and on schedule; track submission and delivery status
• Monitor accounts receivable aging, follow up on past-due balances, and provide regular collections updates
• Work with Project Managers to resolve billing questions, documentation gaps, and customer payment issues
• Identify recurring invoicing errors and improve billing-package accuracy and timeliness

Accounts Payable

• Monitor invoices received through approved submission channels
• Review vendor invoices for accuracy, authorization, contract compliance, supporting documentation, and appropriate project or cost-center coding
• Enter vendor bills into QuickBooks and coordinate approval and payment processing in accordance with company policies and payment schedules
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies
• Maintain accurate and current vendor and accounts payable records

Accounting Controls and Transaction Coding

• Assist with month-end activities and reconciliations related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, employee expenses, and project billing
• Review and code vendor invoices, employee expenses, and bank and credit-card transactions to the appropriate general ledger account in accordance with the company chart of accounts and accounting policies
• Verify the appropriate customer or job, project, department or class, and location to support accurate job costing and financial reporting
• Identify and resolve missing, inconsistent, or “Not Specified” coding before month-end close, obtaining clarification and supporting documentation as needed
• Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready electronic support for accounting transactions
• Identify process improvements that strengthen accuracy, timeliness, cash flow, and accountability
• Support the Controller and finance team with reporting, audits, and special projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
• Three or more years of experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, collections, or general accounting
• Experience in engineering, construction, electrical services, professional services, or another project-based environment preferred
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsof required; experience with expense-management or payroll systems is a plus
• Understanding of project accounting, job-cost coding, invoice documentation, reconciliations, and basic accounting controls
• Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and ability to manage competing deadlines
• Professional written and verbal communication skills, including confidence following up with customers, vendors, employees, and Project Managers
• Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information with discretion
