Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. Duties

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections using financial software such as SAP, Sage, or Xero
• Perform general ledger accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Conduct detailed account analysis and perform month-end closing activities to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Reconcile bank statements and subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger using tools like QuickBooks, Xero, or PeopleSoft
• Assist with payroll management utilizing systems such as ADP, UltiPro, Kronos, or Ceridian while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and confidentiality standards
• Support internal controls and compliance initiatives related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements
• Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review, utilizing Excel data analysis skills and advanced spreadsheet functions

Skills

• Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles and governmental accounting practices
• Proficiency in financial software including Workday, Paychex, Sage, Xero, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro, ADP, and accounting systems like PeopleSoft or Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel capabilities
• Experience with technical accounting topics such as journal entries, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, debits & credits, and double-entry bookkeeping
• Knowledge of GAAP standards and SOX compliance procedures to ensure audit readiness
• Excellent data entry skills combined with high numeracy and attention to detail for accurate bookkeeping and account analysis
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity while demonstrating strong customer service skills in internal stakeholder interactions
• Familiarity with payroll processing, non-profit accounting practices, tax experience, budgeting techniques, credit analysis, and financial concepts
• Strong organizational skills for managing multiple accounts receivable/payable tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $26.32 - $31.70 per hour
