Accounting Specialist | WFH | Night Shift

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Specialist to manage and support the end-to-end accounting process for multiple company entities within a trucking and transportation business.

The ideal candidate has hands-on accounting experience, preferably within the trucking, transportation, logistics, or fleet industry, and is capable of working independently while taking ownership of accounting processes from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end Accounts Receivable process, from customer invoicing through payment application and follow-up.
• Prepare and process customer invoices accurately and on time.
• Record and process daily customer payments.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections and customer account follow-ups.
• Prepare customer statements and maintain accurate AR records.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of:
  • Bank accounts
  • Credit cards
  • Factoring accounts
  • Other balance sheet accounts
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple company entities.
• Assist with month-end closing, including reconciliations, journal entries, and account reviews.
• Prepare and maintain financial and operational accounting reports.
• Assist with IFTA reporting, insurance reports, and other trucking/fleet accounting requirements.
• Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with internal teams, customers, factoring companies, and other parties as needed to resolve accounting issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Perform other accounting, administrative, and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably handling end-to-end accounting processes.
• Strong experience in Accounts Receivable, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities, accounts, and deadlines.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to take ownership of accounting responsibilities with minimal supervision.
