Accounting Supervisor

A publicly traded company is hiring an Accounting Supervisor for their Yazoo City plant location. This role will play a key part in the monthly close process, product costing, inventory accounting, financial analysis, internal controls, and plant-level reporting.

The Accounting Supervisor will work closely with plant leadership, operations, corporate accounting, and other cross-functional teams to provide accurate financial information and support business decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and review accounting activities associated with the monthly financial close.
• Prepare and review journal entries related to product costing, turnaround costs, production, transfers, distributions, and assessments.
• Analyze production and transfer volumes and ensure accurate accounting.
• Perform product costing and related reconciliations.
• Prepare month-end financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Analyze monthly plant costs and variances and communicate key findings to leadership.
• Calculate and record inventory costs and perform related analysis.
• Reconcile and monitor finished goods inventory and shipments.
• Prepare cost analysis and reporting to support plant operations and financial performance.
• Support accounting and reporting related to natural gas, electricity, catalyst, and other plant-related costs.
• Prepare and analyze plant-level financial and cost reports.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to plant and corporate leadership.
• Prepare ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.
• Track and report on capital projects.
• Maintain accounting processes and procedures in accordance with internal control and SOX requirements.
• Partner with the Internal Controls team to identify process improvements and address control deficiencies. Maintain appropriate documentation for internal control and audit purposes.
• Support internal and external audits
• Supervise & mentor other accounting professionals

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 1+ year of supervisory experience within an accounting environment.
• Manufacturing or plant accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of general accounting, financial close, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Work situation:

• M-TH in office, Fridays work from home
• 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off
