Accounting Support Specialist

About the Role

We are hiring an Accounting Support Specialist on behalf of our U.S.-based client to join their accounting team in a high-accountability, detail-intensive remote role. This is not a data-entry position — we are looking for a candidate who can think independently, identify problems before they escalate, and communicate findings clearly to a U.S.-based team across time zones.

You will be a critical link in maintaining the integrity of our client's financial records, supporting month-end close processes, and contributing meaningfully to audit readiness. If you thrive in structured environments but can navigate ambiguity with sound judgment, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Account Reconciliations — Perform thorough reconciliations across multiple accounts; identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies independently — not just flag them for others to fix
• Accounts Receivable Management — Clean up, maintain, and monitor AR records; proactively identify aging items, misapplied payments, or billing inconsistencies and recommend corrective action
• CRM-Based Research & Data Analysis — Use DemandBridge (or similar CRM) to extract, analyze, and interpret financial data; translate findings into clear, actionable summaries for U.S.-based stakeholders
• Month-End Close Support — Assist with closing activities including journal entry preparation, report generation, variance explanation, and discrepancy resolution within strict deadlines
• Audit Support — Prepare and organize documentation, respond to auditor inquiries accurately and promptly, and ensure records are consistently audit-ready — not just during audit season
• Process Improvement Mindset — Proactively identify gaps or inefficiencies in accounting workflows and bring well-thought-out suggestions to the team
• Cross-Time Zone Collaboration — Communicate clearly and professionally with U.S.-based colleagues via email, chat, and video; ensure nothing is lost in the handoff

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant / CPA Required
• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in accounting — preferably in a BPO, shared services, or corporate finance environment
• Proven experience in account reconciliation, AR management, and month-end close — you should be able to own these tasks, not just assist
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, conditional logic — not just basic formatting)
• Working knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar
• Strong analytical reasoning skills — demonstrated ability to investigate discrepancies, connect the dots across data sets, and arrive at sound conclusions with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English — you must be able to clearly explain financial issues to both accounting and non-accounting colleagues
• Comfortable working night shifts (9:00 PM – 6:00 AM PHT) consistently, with night differential pay per Philippine labor law
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet, dedicated home workspace

Strongly Preferred:

• Experience with DemandBridge CRM or similar platforms
• Exposure to audit processes, internal controls, or compliance frameworks
• Experience working with U.S.-based clients or companies and understanding of U.S. GAAP basics
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, especially during high-pressure periods like month-end or audit preparation
