Accounting Technician

G. Visser & Sons is looking for an experienced and dependable Accounting Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on accounting role for someone who is organized, accurate, comfortable managing deadlines, and ready to take ownership of key day-to-day accounting functions.

The Accounting Technician will work closely with the Controller and Accounting Assistant and will help ensure that payments, payroll, reconciliations, remittances, reporting support, and accounting records are completed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

· Process bank transaction imports and complete monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations.

· Oversee the Accounts Payable process for account coding, monitor purchase orders, and resolve missing information or discrepancies.

· Prepare supplier payment lists and payment batches, post approved payments, and maintain complete supporting documentation.

· Prepare regular employee payroll, payroll entries, remittance worksheets, and related records for review.

· Prepare monthly HST and WCB working papers and remittances, as well as quarterly IFTA reports.

· Issue customer invoices, apply receipts, review accounts receivable aging, and coordinate overdue account follow-up.

· Maintain the cash flow forecast and identify upcoming cash requirements.

· Prepare supporting schedules and backup for monthly reporting, budgets, year-end work, insurance, fleet, property, and other recurring requirements.

· Maintain organized digital accounting records and written procedures for recurring duties.

· Provide backup for time-sensitive accounting tasks when required.

What We’re Looking For

· Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping, business administration, or a related field.

· A professional accounting designation, or progress toward one, would be considered an asset but is not required.

· Relevant experience in a full-cycle accounting or accounting technician role.

· Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and government remittances.

· High level of accuracy, organization, confidentiality, and follow-through.

· Ability to manage competing priorities and meet recurring deadlines with minimal supervision.

· Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software; experience with Xero is an asset.

· Clear communication skills and a practical, team-oriented approach to problem-solving.

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
