What they need
The opportunity:
Charter Group is looking for an Accounts Administrator who can bring confidence, accuracy and a practical can-do approach to a busy finance function. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Finance Team, you will be trusted with two of the business's most important rhythms: paying people correctly and on time and keeping supplier accounts accurate and moving.
This is a great fit for someone who likes being close to the detail, enjoys building strong working relationships and gets satisfaction from making sure everything lines up - from invoice coding and payment runs through to payroll reconciliations and employee changes.
What you will own:
- End-to-end accounts payable across the Group, from invoice receipt and coding through to payment and reconciliation
- End-to-end payroll processing across the Group, including starters, leavers, leave and variations
- Supplier payment runs, statement and ledger reconciliations, and prompt resolution of supplier queries or discrepancies
- Payroll reconciliations and accurate documentation, including employment, tax and KiwiSaver paperwork for new employees
- Accounts Receivable support
- Checking completed jobs in the Transport Management System and customer invoicing
- Administrative support for finance projects, ERP/payroll system transition and ongoing process improvements
- Professional relationships with suppliers and employees across the business, with occasional front-of-house support when needed
What will help you succeed
- Payroll processing experience is essential - you are comfortable owning a payroll cycle and understand the importance of getting it right every time
- Up-to-date working knowledge of New Zealand employment and payroll legislation is essential
- Experience with Xero (or similar) in a finance administration environment
- Experience with IMS, or a similar payroll system
- Strong attention to detail, confidence managing competing deadlines, and the initiative to solve problems without needing constant oversight
Why join Charter Group:
Charter Group is an established Kiwi business with a proud history dating back to the 1980s and a strong presence across New Zealand's transport and logistics sector. With more than 100 people and a significant fleet and warehousing operation, Charter supports some of the industries that keep New Zealand moving. It's a forward-thinking business that continues to invest in its people, technology, systems and processes, while maintaining a culture built on trust, respect, safety and strong relationships. Based in Wigram, Christchurch, you'll join an experienced team and a business with genuine scale, momentum and opportunity.
