What they need
Accounts Administrator - Full time | Monday–Friday | 8.00am–5.00pm | 40 hours per week
Te Awamutu Medical Centre is looking for an Accounts Administrator with experience to join our busy, progressive and innovative primary care team.
This is a genuinely busy role. You’ll be working in a high-volume environment with competing priorities, so we’re looking for someone who is organised, motivated, self-managing and calm under pressure. You’ll largely organise your own workload, with oversight from our Practice Manager, and we’ll value someone who can see what needs doing and gets on with it.
About the role
You’ll have day-to-day responsibility for managing our accounts receivable and payable functions, including:
- Processing and reporting financial transactions
- Weekly and monthly financial processing
- Managing patient and client accounts and outstanding debt
- Following up overdue accounts and working alongside our dedicated debt collection staff member and external collection agency
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes
- Providing regular reception and telephone support when needed as part of our wider administration team
This isn’t a back-office role where you can disappear behind a spreadsheet. You’ll regularly interact with patients, colleagues and external organisations, so a strong customer-service approach, empathy and good communication skills are important.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong accounts and/or administration skills
- Can handle a large volume of work accurately and efficiently
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Is organised and able to manage competing priorities
- Shows initiative and looks for better ways of doing things
- Is confident working independently while also being a genuine team player
- Is approachable, practical and able to remain calm when things get busy
- Is comfortable dealing appropriately and respectfully with overdue patient accounts
- Has strong customer-service skills and can relate well to people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Is committed to health equity, cultural safety and culturally competent practice
Previous experience in a medical centre or wider health sector would be an advantage, particularly experience with MedTech Evolution. Xero knowledge or experience will also be an advantage**.**
We are equally interested in hearing from experienced accounts administrators who have great customer service skills, and from medical reception or administration professionals who have developed strong financial administration skills.
Why work with us?
Te Awamutu Medical Centre is a busy, progressive and innovative healthcare organisation focused on providing high-quality care to our community.
We also believe that looking after our people matters. We aim to provide a supportive, family-friendly workplace, offer some flexibility around working hours and rostering where practical, and encourage our staff to develop their skills and contribute ideas.
Remuneration is above relevant MECA rates and will reflect the skills and experience you bring to the role.
If you enjoy being busy, like taking ownership of your work, care about getting the details right and aren’t afraid to suggest a better way of doing something, we’d like to hear from you.
