Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join the accounting team. This is a full-time position based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. As an Accounts Assistant, you will provide essential support to our accounting department, helping to ensure accurate financial records and smooth day-to-day operations. This role is fundamental to maintaining the financial integrity of the organisation and supporting the broader finance function.

What you'll be doing

1. Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and expense claims
2. Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and accounting reports
3. Maintaining accurate and organised financial records and documentation
4. Performing bank reconciliations and assisting with cash management activities
5. Supporting the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
6. Entering data into SQL accounting software and financial systems with precision
7. Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
8. Responding to enquiries from internal departments and external parties regarding financial matters
9. Supporting the senior accounting team with general administrative tasks as required

What we're looking for

1. A qualification in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field (SPM, diploma, or equivalent)
2. Proficiency in accounting software and SQL Accounting,Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
3. Strong numeracy skills and the ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail
4. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
5. Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
6. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
7. Reliability and a professional approach to work
8. Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate
