Accounts Assistant

About the role

Kang & Cheah is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our accounting team in Ipoh, Perak. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting our bookkeeping and small practice accounting operations. As an Accounts Assistant, you will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and providing essential administrative support to our accounting team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a professional environment whilst contributing to the smooth operation of our practice.

Key responsibilities

• Recording and processing financial transactions in accounting systems with accuracy and attention to detail

• Assisting with the preparation and reconciliation of bank statements and ledger accounts

• Processing invoices, receipts and payment documentation

• Maintaining and organising financial records and supporting documentation

• Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports under supervision

• Performing general bookkeeping duties as required by the practice

• Providing administrative support to senior accounting staff

• Liaising with clients regarding documentation and account queries

What we're looking for

• A qualification in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel)
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with an ability to work with figures accurately
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and clients
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently in a busy practice environment
• Reliable, conscientious and committed to maintaining high standards
• Knowledge of Malaysian accounting practices and tax regulations is beneficial
• Willingness to learn and develop professional accounting knowledge
