The Accounts Assistant Job

An established and growing accountancy practice is looking to strengthen its team with the addition of an experienced Accounts Assistant.

Joining at an exciting stage of growth, you'll work with a varied portfolio of businesses and gain broad exposure across accounts preparation, VAT, tax and wider compliance work. Rather than being restricted to one area, this position offers the opportunity to build your experience across multiple areas of practice while developing your technical knowledge alongside an experienced and supportive team.

It's an ideal opportunity for someone already working within accountancy practice who is keen to broaden their experience, take on more responsibility and continue progressing their career.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accounts for a varied portfolio of clients
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Supporting clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
• Assisting with CIS returns and associated compliance work
• Preparing Self Assessment tax returns
• Maintaining accurate client records and supporting ongoing compliance requirements
• Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
• Working closely with colleagues across the practice to ensure deadlines are met and clients receive a high-quality service

The Accounts Assistant Candidate

We're looking for someone who already understands the accountancy practice environment and is ready to continue developing their experience.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
• Experience preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and/or limited companies
• Practical experience preparing VAT returns
• Knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD)
• Experience with CIS would be advantageous
• Experience preparing Self Assessment tax returns
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with clients
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• A proactive attitude and genuine desire to learn and develop

• Salary £25,000 - £32,000 DOE
