£16 – £18 per hour | 18–26 Hours Per Week | 4 Days | Maternity Cover (min 12 months)
Love numbers, know your way around payroll and fancy a better work-life balance? This one could be right up your street!
We're looking for an experienced, organised and self-sufficient Accounts Assistant to join our client's employee-owned business.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys getting stuck into all things finance, from payroll and purchase ledger to banking, VAT and financial reporting.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll take ownership of your workload and play an important part in keeping the finance function running smoothly.
And the best bit? Just 18–26 hours per week, spread across 4 days!
What You'll Be Doing
No two days need look quite the same, but your key responsibilities will include:
Payroll: Processing monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, handling HMRC and pension submissions, and resolving payroll queries.
Sales Ledger: Raising invoices, issuing statements, managing credit control and preparing weekly sales reports.
Purchase Ledger: Processing supplier invoices, organising monthly payment runs, reconciling statements and dealing with supplier queries.
Banking & Cashflow: Completing daily bank reconciliations, preparing payments, reconciling credit cards and petty cash, and managing cashflow.
Financial Reporting: Preparing quarterly VAT returns, maintaining and reconciling prepayments, processing monthly journals and producing ad-hoc reports.
What We're Looking For
We're after someone who knows their debits from their credits and can confidently hit the ground running!
You'll Need Previous payroll processing experience — this is essential!
Strong Excel skills.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
Confidence working independently and taking ownership of day-to-day finance tasks.
Bonus points if you've used Xero or BrightPay!
Experience with either system would be a real advantage, but it's certainly not a dealbreaker.
What's In It For You?
£16 – £18 per hour, depending on experience.
Part-time hours: 18–26 hours per week, negotiable and worked across 4 days.
Employee Ownership Trust: Be part of an employee-owned business with a genuine stake in its success.
Regular team events.
Monthly rewards.
On-site parking.
