About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Officer/Clerk to join our accounting team at MES Trading and Services Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Masai, Johor. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the financial integrity of our organisation by managing day-to-day accounting operations, processing transactions, and ensuring accurate financial records. You will support our finance function and contribute to the smooth running of our financial operations across the trading and services divisions.

What you'll be doing

• Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, purchase orders, and payment vouchers
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers
• Reconciling bank statements and identifying discrepancies
• Preparing journal entries and supporting documentation for accounting records
• Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Verifying receipts, invoices and expenses for accuracy and compliance
• Supporting the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports
• Filing and organising financial documents in a systematic and secure manner
• Liaising with suppliers, customers and internal departments regarding payment and accounting matters
• Assisting with year-end closing procedures and audit activities

What we're looking for

• Diploma or certification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members
• Honesty and integrity in handling confidential financial information
• Preferred: Experience with accounting systems such as MYOB, QuickBooks or similar platforms
