Accounts Executive

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Executive to join PALMER SHIPPING SDN BHD in Miri, Sarawak. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take on a key role in the company's accounting and reporting functions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting statutory compliance, preparing financial reports, and assisting management with accounting-related matters.

What You'll Be Doing

• Handling daily accounting and bookkeeping activities
• Preparing and processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records
• Maintaining general ledger accounts and performing bank reconciliations
• Recording and monitoring daily financial transactions
• Assisting with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
• Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
• Preparing accounting reports and financial information as required
• Monitoring company expenses and maintaining proper supporting documentation
• Assisting with audit and statutory requirements
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, statutory requirements, and company policies
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, accountants, banks, and other relevant parties
• Providing accounting information and support to management and directors
• Performing other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

• Minimum Diploma in Accounting, or a related field
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting and bookkeeping, preferably within the shipping, logistics, or oil & gas industry
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
• Basic knowledge of Singapore accounting practices is an advantage
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Good knowledge of statutory and accounting requirements
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Good communication, organizational, time-management, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
