Duties

• Manage and supervise the accounts payable team, providing guidance and support to ensure timely invoice processing and payment accuracy
• Oversee the review, coding, and approval of invoices using various financial software systems such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle
• Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards in all payables activities
• Implement and optimize accounts payable automation tools like Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro to streamline workflows and reduce manual data entry
• Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and perform account reconciliations using Excel data analysis techniques including VLOOKUP functions and formulas
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements
• Prepare detailed reports on accounts payable metrics, aging analysis, and audit documentation for internal review and external audits
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including accounting, procurement, HRIS systems like ADP or Ceridian, and finance to ensure seamless operations
• Support month-end closing activities by posting journal entries related to payables and accruals in accounting systems such as PeopleSoft or Sage

Experience

• Proven experience managing accounts payable functions within a corporate accounting environment with a strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles
• Extensive knowledge of financial software platforms including Workday, QuickBooks, Quicken, SAP, Oracle PeopleSoft, or similar systems
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable automation tools such as Paychex or Ceridian is highly desirable
• Strong familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal controls related to financial processes
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data using Excel spreadsheets—creating formulas, pivot tables, and performing detailed Excel data analysis for reporting purposes
• Background in public accounting or corporate finance roles that involve invoice processing, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly while managing multiple priorities effectively
• Strong communication skills for collaborating across departments and resolving vendor inquiries efficiently
