Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice receipt, verification, coding, and payment processing using financial software such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle.
• Lead and mentor a team of accounts payable specialists to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices while maintaining high standards of data entry and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls for all financial transactions.
• Oversee invoice reconciliation, account analysis, and journal entries related to accounts payable activities.
• Implement and optimize accounts payable automation tools like Paychex or Bill.com to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Conduct regular audits of accounts payable records, ensuring accuracy in vendor data, payment terms, and expense classifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, procurement, and HRIS systems such as Workday or UltiPro to support seamless data integration and reporting.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports on accounts payable metrics using Excel data analysis techniques like VLOOKUP functions and advanced spreadsheet formulas to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on accounts payable management; public accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation procedures.
• Hands-on experience with financial software such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Sage, or similar platforms; familiarity with Workday or Kronos is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Excel spreadsheet functions including formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis techniques for reporting purposes.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal controls related to financial transactions.
• Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail; strong analysis skills to interpret financial data effectively.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and present findings clearly.
