Accounts Payable Manager

We’re supporting an organisation in Birmingham as they look to appoint an experienced AP Operations Team Leader . This role is ideal for an AP/P2P professional who enjoys leading teams, improving processes and using data to drive performance.

You’ll oversee the operational hub that supports Early Payment activity ensuring suppliers are onboarded smoothly, queries are resolved quickly and service levels are consistently met. Alongside leading the team, you’ll analyse invoice acceleration performance, identify lost rebate opportunities and work closely with internal stakeholders to improve payment processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing operational team.
• Ensure SLAs, quality standards and customer service expectations are consistently achieved.
• Act as first-line escalation point for operational and service issues.
• Analyse programme performance and produce clear, insightful reporting.
• Identify lost rebate opportunities and support stakeholders in improving payment processes.
• Drive continuous improvement across workflows, documentation, and compliance.
• Act as an AP/P2P SME, upskilling the team and advising clients where needed.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years’ P2P / Accounts Payable management experience.
• Strong analytical skills with confidence managing KPIs and performance metrics.
• Proven ability to lead and develop operational teams.
• Solid understanding of audit controls, compliance, and operational risk.
• Experience delivering process or system improvements.
• Intermediate Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management.
