Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our automotive group's accounting team. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate vendor accounts, processing invoices and payments, researching discrepancies, and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of our dealerships.

The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Automotive dealership accounting experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates with strong accounts payable or general accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and timely
• Match invoices with purchase orders, approvals, and supporting documentation
• Enter invoices and accounting transactions into the dealership accounting system
• Prepare and process vendor payments
• Maintain accurate vendor records and account information
• Reconcile vendor statements and research outstanding or aged items
• Investigate invoice discrepancies, duplicate charges, credits, and payment issues
• Communicate professionally with vendors, department managers, and dealership personnel
• Monitor accounts payable schedules and assist with month-end closing responsibilities
• Maintain organized electronic and physical AP documentation
• Assist with expense analysis and general ledger account reconciliations as needed
• Ensure invoices have proper management approval before payment
• Follow company accounting policies and internal controls
• Assist the accounting department with additional projects and responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Previous accounts payable, bookkeeping, or accounting experience preferred
• Automotive dealership accounting experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to manage a high volume of invoices and transactions
• Strong problem-solving and research skills
• Comfortable working with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to communicate professionally with vendors and team members
• Ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately
• Dependable with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional accounting education is a plus
