Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented, and organized Part-Time Remote Accounts Payable Specialist to support our accounting team. This role involves managing vendor invoices, coordinating payments, reconciling accounts, maintaining accurate financial records, and communicating with vendors to resolve billing and payment discrepancies.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment while consistently meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Review, verify, and process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.

Record invoices, credit memos, and payment transactions in the accounting system.

Match invoices with purchase orders and relevant supporting documentation, when applicable.

Verify general ledger coding and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.

Coordinate and process vendor payments, including ACH transfers and check payments.

Reconcile vendor statements and investigate outstanding balances or discrepancies.

Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoices, payment schedules, and account status.

Maintain well-organized digital records and supporting financial documentation.

Assist with accounts payable reconciliations and month-end closing procedures.

Review employee expense reports and process reimbursements as needed.

Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive financial information.

Communicate effectively with team members through email, phone calls, and virtual meetings.

Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

1–3 years of experience in accounts payable or a related accounting role preferred.

Basic knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable procedures.

Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar platforms preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, email, and online collaboration tools.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.

Reliable internet access and a suitable home office or workspace.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.

Work Schedule

Employment Type: Part-time

Hours: Approximately 15–25 hours per week

Work Arrangement: Fully remote

Scheduling: Flexible hours, based on business needs and accounting deadlines

Availability: Must be available during mutually agreed-upon business hours for team communication and coordination.
