The Company is based in Houston, TX and is currently hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing finance team and help support the continued expansion of our project portfolio.

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the company’s accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting financial compliance initiatives. Your expertise in accounting systems, financial software, and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) will be essential to streamline operations and uphold the integrity of our financial data. Duties

• Process and verify a high volume of invoices using various financial software such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies related to accounts payable transactions.
• Maintain detailed records of all invoice processing activities, including data entry, coding, and approval workflows.
• Manage vendor relationships by responding promptly to inquiries, resolving billing issues, and ensuring timely payments.
• Support automation initiatives for accounts payable processes using tools like Paychex, QuickBooks, or Sage to improve efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements during all financial transactions.
• Assist with month-end closing activities by preparing journal entries related to accounts payable and reconciling general ledger accounts.
• Collaborate with the human resources team on benefits administration and related payroll processing tasks via ADP or UltiPro systems.
• Contribute to audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting audit requests related to accounts payable and financial compliance.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience

• Proven experience in accounts payable functions within a corporate accounting environment, ideally with exposure to public accounting practices.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles such as GAAP, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting.
• Hands-on experience with financial software including Workday, Kronos, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar enterprise systems.
• Proficiency in Excel data analysis using formulas like VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and advanced spreadsheet functions for invoice processing and account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with accounts payable automation tools such as UltiPro or Sage is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of payroll management systems like ADP or Kronos combined with benefits administration experience is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analysis skills for identifying discrepancies or errors in financial data.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining high levels of accuracy under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments including finance, HRIS systems management, and external vendors.

Pay: $96.72 - $132.18 per hour
