Accounts Payable Technician

Duties

• Process and verify a high volume of vendor invoices using financial software such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle, ensuring adherence to company policies and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies through detailed analysis, utilizing Excel data analysis techniques including formulas and VLOOKUP functions.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions, including journal entries, debits & credits, and invoice processing logs.
• Support accounts payable automation initiatives by utilizing tools like Paychex, ADP, Kronos, or UltiPro to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls by documenting processes and maintaining audit-ready records.
• Assist with month-end closing activities by preparing reports on accounts payable status and reconciling general ledger accounts related to liabilities.
• Handle confidential information with integrity while managing data entry tasks with precision, including 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping.

Experience

• Proven accounting and finance experience with a strong understanding of accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or Ceridian.
• Hands-on experience in accounts payable processing within a corporate or public accounting environment.
• Familiarity with financial concepts like invoice processing, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data using Excel spreadsheets—applying formulas, pivot tables, and functions like VLOOKUP for effective data analysis.
• Knowledge of financial compliance standards including SOX controls and GAAP guidelines.
• Experience working with multiple financial software platforms such as Workday, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or similar systems is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail combined with excellent organizational skills for managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
