Hours: Full-time

Department: Finance & Accounting

Reporting to: Accounts Payable & Receivable Manager

The Opportunity

We are looking to hire an experienced Accounts Payable Technician to join the finance team of a leading international organisation operating within the insurance and financial services sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional to contribute to the efficient running of accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective supplier relationships and strong financial controls.

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing supplier invoices and payments, managing employee expenses, completing regular reconciliations and supporting continuous improvements across finance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchase and supplier invoices in accordance with company policies, ensuring accurate cost centre and general ledger coding.
  • Prepare, process and record supplier payment runs.
  • Respond to and resolve internal and external queries relating to invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and investigate and clear discrepancies and outstanding balances.
  • Review and process employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and appropriate scrutiny of higher-risk receipts.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reconciliations, including bank accounts, control accounts, supplier accounts and corporate credit cards, maintaining appropriate audit documentation.
  • Prepare intercompany invoices, post transactions to the general ledger and monitor receipts against agreed payment terms.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve outstanding balances and discrepancies.
  • Manage the opening and closing of employee corporate credit card accounts.
  • Maintain up-to-date internal control documentation and ensure appropriate authorisations are in place.
  • Prepare and develop monthly and quarterly KPI reports, providing relevant analysis and commentary.
  • Ensure intercompany balances are accurately reconciled.
  • Maintain clear and effective documentation of accounts payable processes, including areas requiring financial judgement.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes, strengthen financial controls and increase operational efficiency.
  • Support the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks and assist with projects led by the Senior FP&A Accountant.
  • Contribute to a strong culture of professional conduct, helping the business achieve positive outcomes for its customers and policyholders.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of banking portals and payment processes.
  • A sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive approach to investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.

Experience with purchase-to-pay systems and general ledger platforms would be beneficial.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be organised, methodical and comfortable working across a range of accounts payable and receivable activities. You will take ownership of your work, communicate confidently with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, and demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.

You will also understand the importance of maintaining robust financial controls, meeting deadlines and ensuring financial processes are completed accurately and efficiently.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Join an established international organisation within a specialist financial services environment.
  • Gain exposure to a broad range of finance operations, reconciliations and reporting activities.
  • Work collaboratively with an experienced finance team.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the development of effective financial controls.
  • Benefit from a hybrid working arrangement.

We welcome applications from candidates whose experience aligns with the core requirements of the role, even if they do not meet every criterion listed.
