Accounts Receivable Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances, and maintaining accurate financial records. Duties

• Manage the entire accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, and account reconciliation using accounting systems such as Sage, PeopleSoft, or QuickBooks.
• Monitor aging reports and follow up with clients to resolve overdue balances through negotiation and professional communication.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) in all transactions and records.
• Utilize billing software and spreadsheets to analyze data, prepare reports, and identify discrepancies or trends affecting receivables.
• Collaborate with other departments like accounts payable, medical billing teams, and customer service to resolve billing issues efficiently.
• Perform data entry with high accuracy using 10 key typing skills and double entry bookkeeping techniques.
• Reconcile accounts receivable ledger entries regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on accounts receivable management, collections account management, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, revenue cycle management, and account analysis.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms; experience with financial software is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 codes, or governmental accounting is a plus for healthcare-related roles.
• Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel data analysis, formulas, and spreadsheet management.
• Exceptional communication skills for client interaction and negotiation; phone etiquette is essential for effective client communication.
• Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately while adhering to internal controls like SOX compliance.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry and record keeping; ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
• Demonstrated understanding of non-profit or corporate accounting practices is advantageous; experience in medical collection or revenue cycle management is a plus.
