Accounts Supervisor

About the role

The Accounts Supervisor / Process Owner is a member of the Finance and Accounting team and has a functional reporting line to Accounts Support Manager. Lead, Manage and Supervise the finance and accounting team on the assigned processes.

Responsible for monitoring and quality assurance of the different processes and daily operations, conducting accounting and period end reporting tasks, according to Gearbulk Internal Control System for Finance and Accounting department.

Key responsibilities

• Management and supervising Finance and Accounting teams, including being line managers for assigned teams
• Monitor and maintain sufficient capacity and competence within the team and ensure competence development to maintain efficient and lean operations
• Overall responsible for coordination, quality assurance and work performance for the assigned team
• Ensure that the Finance and Accounting team are compliant with duties and responsibilities outlined in Gearbulk's Internal Control System and ensure high quality and timely deliveries according to period end schedules
• Ensure proper and sufficient back-up and contingency plan for the team, and act as back-up function for members during absence/transition periods
• Preparation and maintenance of work descriptions and work guidelines for the team for all relevant work processes and tasks performed
• Own and continuously improve the team's processes, procedures, and controls, ensuring efficient, standardized, and sustainable operations while driving improvement and transformation initiatives
• Completion and implementation of annual objectives set by functional line manager
• Collaborate with all Gearbulk and G2 Ocean finance/accounting team members on all levels to ensure efficient operations for Gearbulk Group and Gearbulk Finance team

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong accounting and financial management experience with a proven track record in a similar role
• Minimum 8 years of professional accounting experience
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience
• Strong management and people leadership skills
• Strong experience in process management, process ownership, and continuous improvement
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement operational improvements and standardization initiatives
• Familiarity with ERP systems and general functionality
• Demonstrated ability to leverage technology and systems to improve business processes and operational efficiency
• Good level of IT skills
