What they need
Accounts Trainee
You may already understand the theory behind accounting and finance. What you need now is the opportunity to apply it within a professional business and learn how the numbers support real commercial and investment decisions.
We are recruiting an Accounts Trainee for a Birmingham-based finance and investment business. This entry-level position provides structured practical experience across day-to-day accounting, financial administration and reporting.
The salary is £28,000 per year. This is a full-time, permanent and fully on-site position working Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm.
Building your practical experience
Working with senior members of the finance team, you will gradually learn how to:
- Process invoices, payments and expense information
- Maintain purchase and sales ledger records
- Assist with bank and account reconciliations
- Prepare schedules and supporting information for month-end
- Check financial data for accuracy and investigate discrepancies
- Maintain organised digital records and supporting documents
- Assist with basic financial and investment reporting
- Update spreadsheets and internal accounting systems
- Support the wider team during reporting and audit periods
You will receive guidance throughout your initial training, with regular feedback to help you develop accuracy, confidence and a stronger understanding of financial processes.
This role could suit an accounting, finance or economics graduate, someone currently studying towards an accountancy qualification, or an organised individual determined to begin a career within the sector.
You will need confidence working with numbers, good attention to detail and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. You should be comfortable asking questions and checking information carefully rather than making assumptions.
As your technical knowledge develops, there may be opportunities to progress from Accounts Trainee into an Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant position, with greater involvement in reporting, reconciliations and financial analysis.
If you are looking for a credible first step into accounting and finance, apply with your current CV.
