What they need
Acting Teacher at The FaME School, Preston
Sing it. Act it. Dance it. Own it.
About the Role
The FaME School is looking for a passionate, imaginative Acting Teacher to join our Saturday morning team at our custom-built studios on Roman Way, Preston. You'll help young performers aged 6 to 16 find their voice on stage, building their confidence, creativity and storytelling skills through drama with a musical theatre heart.
At FaME, we believe every child deserves the chance to shine, and that money should never be the reason someone misses out on the arts. If you love teaching, love theatre and want to make a real difference to young people's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a paid role at £25 per hour, Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm, working alongside our Head of Acting, Lee Johnson, plus our voice and dance faculty.
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver fun, engaging drama sessions for our three class groups: Sparks (6 to 8), Stars (9 to 11) and Icons (12 to 16)
- Teach core acting skills including characterisation, voice, movement, improvisation and script work
- Help students bring the story to life in musical theatre numbers, scenes and showcases
- Build a safe, inclusive and encouraging studio where every student feels brave enough to try
- Adapt your teaching to support students with additional needs so every learner can take part
- Give positive, constructive feedback that helps students grow in skill and self-belief
- Work closely with the FaME teaching team so acting, singing and dance link together seamlessly
- Keep parents and carers in the loop on progress and celebrate students' achievements
- Keep simple, organised lesson plans and attendance records
What We're Looking For
- Experience teaching drama or acting to children and young people
- A solid grounding in theatre, ideally including musical theatre
- Confident, warm communication with students, parents and colleagues
- Positive behaviour management that's patient, consistent and encouraging
- Creative ideas for games, improvisation and scene work that suit mixed abilities
- Awareness of SEND and how to make sessions accessible for all
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Experience with LAMDA, devising or directing youth productions is a plus, as is working with older teens ahead of our Youth Theatre launch in January
