We’re currently seeking a compassionate and energetic Transportation & Activities Assistant to support resident engagement through life enrichment programs and safe, dependable transportation services.

Position Summary

As the Transportation & Activities Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing residents’ quality of life by:

• Assisting in planning and leading engaging group and individual activities.
• Driving residents to appointments, shopping trips, and off-site events in the community vehicle.
• Promoting social engagement, independence, and fun in a safe and supportive setting.

Key Responsibilities

Activities Assistance

• Support planning, organization, and facilitation of daily, weekly, and monthly events (e.g., exercise classes, games, sing-alongs, arts and crafts).
• Encourage resident participation and maintain a welcoming, enthusiastic atmosphere.
• Help decorate for holidays and special occasions.
• Assist with newsletter and activity calendar preparation.
• Provide assistance to residents during activities and community outings.

Resident Transportation

• Operate the community minibus, van, or light vehicle to transport residents to medical appointments, shopping, and scheduled outings.
• Assist residents in and out of vehicles, including use of wheelchair lifts and securement devices.
• Maintain accurate transportation records and logs.
• Keep the community vehicle clean, fueled, and well-maintained.
• Communicate with the front desk and residents regarding transportation schedules.
• Perform morning room reminder calls for residents with scheduled appointments.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of experience working with older adults or in a customer service role; senior living or healthcare experience is a plus.

Skills & Attributes

• Friendly, patient, and dependable with strong communication skills.
• Ability to lead group activities and build rapport with residents.
• Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Basic computer literacy (for scheduling, email, and calendar input).
• Able to operate AV equipment (e.g., DVD players, stereos).

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record – required
• Must be 21 years old
• First Aid certification – required (provided by employer)
• Must pass a health screening, TB test, and background check

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and assist residents using wheelchairs or walkers.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching required.
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.
• Work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings with moderate to high noise levels.
