Activities Assistant

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging activity programs that cater to diverse resident interests, including recreational therapy and memory care activities
• Coordinate resident events and outings that promote socialization, physical activity, and mental stimulation
• Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs), ensuring their comfort and participation in community events
• Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interaction, encouraging participation and fostering a sense of belonging
• Maintain accurate records of resident participation, preferences, and progress in activity logs
• Collaborate with caregiving staff and team members to ensure activities align with individual care plans and health considerations
• Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent engagement while accommodating residents’ routines and special needs

Skills

• Proven experience in event planning, program development, or recreational therapy within assisted living or long-term care settings
• Strong knowledge of geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and memory support strategies
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with seniors, families, and team members effectively
• Ability to build meaningful relationships with residents while respecting their dignity and independence
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation, scheduling, and communication purposes
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate resident events and manage schedules efficiently
• Compassionate caregiving mindset with a focus on aging issues counseling and senior care best practices
