Activities Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Activity Assistant to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. The ideal candidate will be responsible for helping the director plan, organize, and implement engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being among individuals in long-term care settings. This role requires effective communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting the aging population.

Shift is Saturday. Sunday, Monday: required 10 hour shifts.

Duties

• Plan and facilitate a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assess residents' needs and preferences for activity participation.
• Organize events such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and outings to foster community engagement.
• Maintain an organized schedule of activities and ensure all necessary materials are prepared in advance.
• Provide support during activities by assisting residents with mobility or participation as needed.
• Document resident participation and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding resident involvement in activities and any notable observations.
• Stay informed about aging issues, memory care strategies, and best practices in caregiving within assisted living or nursing home environments.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
• Experience or knowledge in aging issues is preferred.
• Background in event planning or experience working in long-term care settings is a plus.
• Familiarity with memory care techniques and caregiving practices.
• Ability to manage schedules effectively while being adaptable to changing needs.
• A passion for working with older adults and enhancing their quality of life through meaningful activities.
• Previous experience in home community care or assisted living environments is advantageous.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
