Activities Assistant / Smoking Aide

PineCrest Center for Rehabilitation and Healing is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Activities Assistant / Smoking Aide to join our team. This position will assist with providing engaging activities and meaningful social opportunities for our residents while also supporting residents who participate in designated smoking activities in accordance with facility policies and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Activities Director with planning, organizing, and facilitating daily recreational and therapeutic activities for residents.
• Encourage residents to participate in group and individual activities based on their interests and abilities.
• Assist with arts and crafts, games, music, entertainment, exercise programs, social events, and other recreational activities.
• Provide friendly companionship and positive interaction with residents.
• Assist residents with attending scheduled activities and safely transitioning to and from activity areas.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming activities area.
• Transport and accompany residents to designated smoking areas according to facility policies and resident care plans.
• Monitor residents in the designated smoking area and maintain a safe environment.
• Follow all facility smoking policies, safety procedures, and infection-control guidelines.
• Assist residents with appropriate positioning and supervision while in designated smoking areas.
• Communicate any concerns regarding resident behavior, safety, or changes in condition to the appropriate nursing or supervisory staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to activities and smoking-area supervision as required.
• Protect resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
• Work cooperatively with nursing, rehabilitation, dietary, and other departments to support resident engagement and quality of life.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or facility leadership.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with seniors, in a nursing home, assisted living facility, healthcare setting, or recreational program is preferred.
• Previous activities or resident engagement experience is a plus.
• Must be dependable, patient, compassionate, and comfortable working with elderly and/or medically complex residents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to follow facility policies and safety procedures.
• Must be able to assist with resident mobility and supervision as required by the position.
• CPR certification or other applicable certifications may be required based on facility policy.
