What they need

Job Overview

Are you creative, caring and full of ideas for helping people enjoy each day? The Beeches is looking for an Activities Co-ordinator to bring meaningful moments, laughter and connection to life for our residents. We’re a friendly, 31-bed home providing nursing, residential and dementia care. You’ll plan and lead activities that reflect residents’ interests, abilities and choices—from relaxed one-to-one time to lively group events and special celebrations. Experience in a similar role is preferred. Just as important is your warmth, enthusiasm and ability to help residents feel included and valued. You’ll be joining a close-knit team, with approachable managers and plenty of support.

Duties

  • Plan, organize, and lead diverse activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
  • Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities support residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive health.
  • Encourage participation through motivating communication and personalized engagement strategies.
  • Maintain a safe environment during all activities by adhering to safety protocols and supervising residents closely.
  • Track participation and gather feedback to continuously improve activity programs.
  • Coordinate special events, outings, and themed celebrations that enhance community spirit.
  • Document activity participation and resident responses for care planning purposes.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in or care home settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of care principles, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care techniques.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with residents of all cognitive levels.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for creating engaging activities that promote socialization and mental stimulation
  • Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents’ changing needs and preferences.
  • A caring attitude with a genuine passion for enhancing seniors’ quality of life through meaningful engagement.
