Activities Director

The Susan J. Rheem Adult Day Center, a medical/social model adult day health program, is looking for an Enthusiastic, Creative and Caring Activity Director to join our team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, creating moments of joy, and helping adults feel valued, included, and engaged.

This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. No weekends or major holidays. Full-time employees enjoy a comprehensive benefit package.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead and manage the Activity Team, providing day-to-day direction, coaching, and oversight to ensure successful delivery of activities and programs.
• Develop a monthly activity calendar featuring daily activities, including the planning, organization, leadership, and evaluation of programs in accordance with current Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) requirements.
• Complete participant activity assessments and maintain accurate, timely documentation of participation and goal achievement.
• Tailor activities, special events and community outings to accommodate participants with varying abilities and interests, promoting successful participation in fun and meaningful daily activities that encourage social connection, creativity, movement, and cognitive engagement.
• Motivate and encourage both staff and participants to actively participate in activities and programs.
• Provide occasional hands-on caregiving assistance, including personal care, mobility support, meals, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Meet the physical demands and requirements of the position.
• Maintain a clean driving record and be capable of safely operating the organization’s wheelchair-accessible van for community outings.
• Promote safety, dignity, independence, and respect in all aspects of your work.

Our Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have prior experience creating/leading/directing activities for older adults or adults with disabilities, including individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
• Be warm, patient, and compassionate, with a genuine passion for helping others to have meaningful and joyful experiences that can be flexible and adaptable, as necessary.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, computer, and leadership skills.
• Ideally also have previous caregiving or personal care experience.
