Position Summary

The Activity Assistant will help plan, organize, coordinate, and lead engaging activities designed to enhance the physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual well-being of our residents. This role works closely with the Activities Director and interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide a vibrant and rewarding resident experience.

Activity Assistant Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with daily resident activities, events, and recreation programs
• Facilitate group and one-on-one activities for residents with various cognitive and physical abilities
• Promote resident participation in social, recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities
• Create flyers, newsletters, bulletin boards, and promotional materials
• Assist with activity calendar development and event planning
• Shop for activity supplies and maintain inventory
• Encourage resident engagement and community involvement
• Support holiday celebrations, themed events, outings, and special programs
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and staff
• Assist with evening and weekend activities as scheduled
• Help create a fun, welcoming, and person-centered environment

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Positive attitude and strong customer service mindset
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Compassion, patience, and respect for the elderly population

Preferred:

• Previous experience as an Activity Assistant, Activity Aide, Recreation Aide, Recreation Assistant, Activities Coordinator, Resident Engagement Assistant, or Senior Activities Assistant
• Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, healthcare, nursing home, assisted living, memory care, or senior living
• Experience creating activity calendars, flyers, and resident programming
