As an Activity Director, here is what you can expect:

The Activity Director is responsible for planning and implementing activities, education and creating tools and programs that encourage and foster community integration for residents, as well as meeting their social and recreational needs. The Activity Director schedules appointments and organizes transportation for residents. The Activity Director communicates professionally with residents, families, and peers, and as part of a team, helps to create an enriching and positive environment. The Activity Director is accountable to the Executive Director.

Here's what you will need to be a great fit as an Activity Director:

Education: High school education or equivalent required. College degree in a related field is preferred.

Training & Experience: Prior experience in a social or community recreational program working with older adults. Experience developing and implementing groups. Experience with the frail elderly and/or dementia-impaired residents preferred. Appropriate Colorado driver’s license required.

Performance Capabilities: Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English, communicate clearly and effectively, be organized and conscientious, listen effectively, work independently, work varied hours, and train/supervise staff and volunteers.

Expectations:

Develop a monthly calendar of events that meets the needs and interests of the residents.

Plan and implement a variety of activities for assisted living residents.

Plan activities that consider the needs of frail and dementia-impaired residents, as well as those of more independent residents.

Secure special services for residents as requested.

Act as a resource to the Resident Council.

Conduct and maintain interest surveys on all residents.

Coordinate transportation and act as drive for residents/community as needed.

Organize and implement a program of volunteers to augment the activities program.

Increase support for residents to engage in outside activities happening in the community, providing, or arranging for transportation to these selected activities.

Staff Development and Supervision:

Provide orientation, training, supervision, and evaluation for all staff personnel regarding activities, and provide evaluation information to the staff's primary supervisor as needed.

Prepare work and time schedules for volunteers, and coordinate work and time schedules with primary supervisor(s) of staff engaged in activities.

Know current State regulations governing resident activities and monitor compliance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
