Walesby Forest has been welcoming visitors since 1938 and is set across more than 250 acres of stunning woodland in the heart of Sherwood Forest – Robin Hood country!

We're a not-for-profit outdoor adventure centre with 30+ activities, accommodation for thousands of visitors and a team that knows how to have fun while getting the job done.

Every year, around 40,000 children come through our doors looking for adventure, excitement and experiences they'll remember for years.

And we're looking for you to help make that happen.

Become an Activity Apprentice Instructor

As a Live-In Activity Apprentice Instructor, you'll be at the heart of the action.

One minute you could be helping serve breakfast to a hungry group of children, and the next you could be up in the trees, on the water, racing around the forest or delivering one of our many adventure activities.

You'll help children discover what they're capable of, overcome challenges, try something completely new and, most importantly, have an amazing time.

And when the sun goes down?

The fun doesn't necessarily stop! From evening entertainment and discos to special events, you'll be part of the full Walesby experience.

It's busy. It's energetic. It's sometimes challenging.

But it's also seriously good fun.

Get Paid to Learn & Build Your Future

Starting in January 2027, you'll join our Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprenticeship.

You'll learn on the job, gain practical experience and work towards an internationally recognised qualification while becoming part of the Walesby team.

You'll receive full training across our activities, with in-house training and, where appropriate, nationally recognised qualifications through relevant National Governing Bodies.

We'll help you develop the skills, confidence and experience you need to take your next step in the outdoor adventure industry.

For some of our previous activity staff, Walesby has been just the beginning.

Former team members have gone on to work in outdoor activity roles in places including Dubai, France and Australia.

Walesby is well renowned for the time we take to help and support our staff to a better future in the activity industry.

This isn't a Monday-to-Friday, 9-to-5 job.

You live here. You work here. You make friends here.

Your accommodation is your own one-bed pod, giving you your own space with your own shower, toilet, TV and wifi

Accommodation and meals are provided, with the cost offset against your pay.

And when you're not working, you can make use of Walesby's activities during your downtime throughout the year.

Please note that a security deposit will be required for your accommodation at the start of the season.

Because this is a live-in position, you must be 18 or over to apply.

2027 Is Going to Be Big!

It's not all about school activity visits.

During 2027, you'll also have the opportunity to be involved in some seriously exciting events, including:

• The Big Fake Festival music weekend
• Vegan Campout
• Scouting / Guiding events
• Special outdoor adventure events

You'll get to work with different groups, experience new challenges and be part of some of the biggest events in Walesby's calendar.
